We all want our beloved fur babies to have the best when it comes to dog food and nutrition. A few years ago I looked into feeding my dogs a raw food diet. I’d heard great things about it and wanted to give it a try on my own. What I found out was doing that on my own was going to take a lot of work and time that I simply didn’t have. Plus I was really worried that I didn’t have enough knowledge to get it exactly right for my dog. Thankfully, Five Star made all of this easier for me!
Who is Five Star?
One of the only raw food lines that is USDA certified, inspected and approved. What does that mean though? It means that all ingredients that are human grade are inspected and a USDA inspector is on-site for every small-batch (yes, every) production, ensuring that the quality of the food is what you expect from Five Star. All of the food that goes into creating this amazing raw food for your pooch comes from the US.
Why go raw?
The idea behind Five Star is that feeding them a diet similar to what their ancestors ate in the wild will allow them to thrive. You pay attention to what goes into your body right? So why should your dog be any different? You want him to live a long and healthy life right along with you for many years!
Once on his new raw diet your dog will experience improved digestion, his teeth and gums will be healthier, he will be sporting a shinier coat and his weight will be better managed. Think about it, when you eat a diet full of good foods for your body, you weight is under control, am I right? The same goes for your furry friend.
After about a week of my dog eating her new Five Star raw diet, I noticed her coat wasn’t quite as dull. It was like she had just had a bath! She had a little more energy too. Not in a crazy-omg-what-happened-to-my-dog way, but just a spunk to her that wasn’t there before.
Why Five Star?
I had thought a few years ago that I wanted to feed my dogs a raw food diet, but I quickly learned that it took a lot more planning and making sure that I was still giving them nutrients and vitamins that they needed. That meant going to my vet and working it out with her and lots of research. Quite frankly it was more than I had time for (as a single mom of small kids). In comes Five Star and their Ph.D. animal nutritionist who formulates all the recipes for you! I want to give that person a big ole hug, because that is a lot of work.
I am switching my Lola to a raw food diet! I love how she is a better version of herself with the foods that she really needs and no filler. Pretty sure I am going to be able to enjoy Lola for many years to come because I have switched her to foods that her body really needs!
