Get ready for some giant-size fun, we have the top 5 largest dog breeds for you today! I just adore these gentle giants. I’ve always been a big dog person, but some of these pooches are probably double the size of my largest dog (a German Shepherd). A few of these pups are high on my “would love to snuggle” list, along with my “when I get a bigger house” list. Surprisingly, though, you don’t need as much room as you’d think for some of these top 5 largest dog breeds! Some of them do quite well in apartments! Let’s check them out, shall we?

Pakistani Mastiff


The Pakistani Mastiff grows to a height between 30 inches and 42 inches and a weight between 154 pounds to 198 pounds. They have an average life expectancy of 9 years and originate from Pakistan and India. This giant purebred comes in several colors including white, black, fawn and brindle. These dogs are good with kids, intelligent and adaptable.

Saint Bernard


The Saint Bernard grows to a height between 28 inches and 35 inches and a weight between 120 pounds to 200 pounds. They have an average life expectancy of 9 years and originate from Switzerland and Italy. This giant purebred comes in an array of colors including black, brown, white, tricolor, red, red-brown and brindle. These dogs are affectionate, territorial and need frequent grooming.

Great Dane


The Great Dane grows to a height of about 35 inches and a weight between 130 pounds and 180 pounds. They have an average life expectancy of 7 years and originate from Germany. This giant purebred comes in several different colors including brown, black and black/brown. These dogs are great watchdogs, territorial and social.

Irish Wolfhound


The Irish Wolfhound grows to a height between 32 inches and 35 inches and a weight between 140 pounds and 180 pounds. Anatolian Shepherd


The Anatolian Shepherd grows to a height of between 29 inches to 32 inches and a weight between 110 pounds and 150 pounds. They have an average life expectancy of 12 years and originate from Turkey. This giant purebred comes in a few different colors like white, blue, red and gray. These dogs are territorial, great watchdogs and need a good deal of exercise.
