Looking for some cute star dog names for your intergalactic pup? I’ve got you covered! With literally an infinite number of possibilities, narrowing down the list to just the top 100 was definitely a challenge. But I think I did okay! Below you’ll find my favorite names that are literally out of this world. I divided them up into “male” and “female” names, but don’t feel like you have to stick with one list or the other. A lot of the names are very gender-neutral. Even if you find one that’s not, there is absolutely no rule that says you can’t use it.
Top 50 Star Dog Names for Females
First, just in case it’s not clear when I say “star dog names,” I mean that literally. These ideas are inspired by stars in outer space, not the ones on your TV screen. Now that we’ve cleared that up, let’s dive in, starting with some cute female dog names.

My favorite name from this list is definitely Maia, since it was the name of my beloved lab/collie. It’s not just a star name, it’s also a Greek goddess name. I didn’t pick it for either of those reasons, though. I just thought it was a pretty name, and relatively unique at the time.
Other female star dog names that I’d absolutely consider using for my own future dogs include Talitha (I’d call her Tali for short) and Nashira. I think they’re both really cute ideas.
Top 50 Male Star Dog Names
As you read through these male star dog names, I bet you noticed that a lot of them are also Harry Potter dog names! It seems like Rowling drew a lot of inspiration from the stars when she was coming up with her character names. Of course, one could argue that she was actually inspired by Greek and Roman mythology since a lot of stars share names with epic gods and goddesses.

It’s hard to choose a favorite out of the male names. Phoenix is perfect if you’re adopting a rescue dog. Like the mythological bird, they’ve gone through so much and still managed to rise from the ashes. For two brother dogs, you could go with Castor and Pollux! But if I had to choose a name for my own dog from this list, I would probably go with Sirius (I’m a huge Harry Potter fan).
Obviously, there are FAR more than 100 stars in the sky! These are just the ones with the best names in my opinion. The vast majority of them (or at least those that we know of) have names that just consist of a random string of letters and numbers.
