Winters in the north can be brutal! Between the constant snow and temperatures dipping well below freezing, we spend a lot of time bundled up in layers! What about our canine pals, though? Just because they have fur coats doesn’t mean they don’t get cold! They need bundling too! That’s where North Fetch Athletics™ comes in!
Keep Your Pup Cozy & Warm with North Fetch Athletics Dog Jackets
North Fetch Athletics– what a clever name, right? Reminds me of that popular jacket for people! You know what I’m talking about, don’t you? Great thinking on their part! They’re actually inspired by human fashions, so your dog can be as stylish as you! Of course, a name is just a name. It’s the product that really counts! I tried out the size small black North Fetch Athletics hooded puffer coat on Simon, a 13-year-old Shih Tzu. Let’s check it out!
North Fetch Hooded Puffer Coat Review
I really like the black because it’s such a great, universal color. Canadian winters can get muddy pretty fast. I think black is a great choice because it won’t discolor quickly. Plus it will definitely stand out in the middle of a snow storm!
Size-wise, the North Fetch dog jacket was a pretty snug fit. I got a small because I didn’t look at the super handy size chart on each product page before picking out the size, but in retrospect, I think a medium would have been just a tad better. Honestly, though, even with the small, I felt like I only needed about an extra half inch to an inch to make it a perfect fit. I only had a bit of trouble tucking Simon’s fur into the coat. So when you’re looking at the coats, make sure you check out that size chart! It even gives examples of which breeds fall under which sizes. Obviously it’s not exhaustive, but I like that they give you a general idea.
The soft fleece lining and faux-down insulation in the North Fetch Athletics dog jacket definitely did a great job of keeping my Simon warm! When I took off the coat, I could feel the warmth coming off his body. I like that it doesn’t make him overheat, but rather keeps him snug and cozy while we’re out for our winter walks. The opening for the leash is great, especially since Simon usually wears a harness.
It leaves enough room for the coat and the harness. I love the snap feature on the hood! This is a tremendous feature, as it holds the hood in place when it’s not needed and prevents it from bobbing around on Simon’s neck and head.
I’m really impressed with the overall quality of our coat! The stitching is fantastic, nice and tight. I definitely don’t see any issues with unraveling anytime soon. I love that it’s machine washable too. With a water-resistant shell and the soft fleece lining, Simon’s ready for all his winter adventures, thanks to his North Fetch dog jacket!
You might think a great coat like this would cost a fortune, but North Fetch actually makes incredibly affordable dog jackets! The hooded puffer coat ranges from $39.99-$54.99 at full retail price, but it’s actually on sale now at PetSmart. All North Fetch products are available exclusively at PetSmart, so use the store locator to find one near you or shop online. Follow North Fetch on Facebook to keep up with all their news.
